5 Gorgeous Men Who Were Born Women

Your gender isn’t defined by your sex, or, as Buck Angel says “by what’s between your legs”. Still, there are millions of people in the world who don’t feel quite right in the bodies they’ve been born into. Chastity Bono, daughter of international superstar Cher and Sonny, changed her gender and is now Chaz Bono. Larry Wachowski, director of the Matrix trilogy, is now Lana Wachowski. Yvonne Buschbaum, a medal-winning German pole vaulter, is now Balian Buschbaum.

It’s true that you should always feel comfortable with the body you’re in – but sometimes that body needs a little bit of tweaking to get it feeling just right. Here are five men who shared that sentiment, and who now love the skin they’re in.
Ian Harvie is an American stand-up comedian who has toured with notable Comedienne Margarat Cho. He came out as queer when he was nineteen, and later came out as transgendered when he was thirty-two. He often references being a trans man in his stand-up comedy acts.

Ryan Sallens was born as Kimberley Ann. After extensive surgery and hormone replacement therapy, Ryan completed his transformation in 2005. He is a motivational and education speaker, and currently travels the U.S. to educate people about transgender issues and concerns.

Balian Buschbaum was once Yvonne; a champion pole vaulter from Germany. Despite being the second-best pole-vaulter in the country, Yvonne announced her retirement from the sport and later emerged as transgendered Balian.

Buck Angel is a transgendered female model who started the first FTM adult website, the first FTM adult production company – and was the first FTM adult actor and entertainer, too. Buck is an icon in the LGBTQ community and currently works as an adult actor and producer, and motivational speaker.

Loren Cameron is an American photographer and author. He documented his own transition from female to male, and also widely photographed images of the transsexual body in clothed and nude forms. As a transsexual activist, he aims to demystify the transsexual body and provide an affirmative visual resource for those considering transgender operations or treatments.

Monika Wassermann is a doctor and a freelance writer based in the UK who lives with her cat Buddy. She writes across several verticals, including life, health, sex and love, relationships and fitness. Her three great loves are Victorian novels, Lebanese cuisine, and vintage markets. When she’s not writing, you can find her trying to meditate more, weightlifting, or wandering around in town.
