Andre Passini – responsible for the design, development and manufacture of Nova Guitar Parts products

Founder’s/Owner’s story and what motivated them to start the business

I, Andre Passini, responsible for the design, development and manufacture of Nova Guitar Parts products, started in the world of building with my first musical instrument, a baroque bassoon, in 2007. My passion for music, which comes from childhood, made me curious about learning to make my own instrument, when one was not available to learn to play. My master Hans Hermann Ziel, who taught me a lot about wind instruments, among other instruments, made me open my vision to an unknown world.

Developing this new skill of working with wood and metal and my passion for music, especially for the guitar, which had been going on since the 80s, made me want more and more to learn how to make other instruments and in 2011 I made my first guitar. In 2015 I became interested in making a multiscale instrument and I realized that there was no hardware available in the Brazilian market, so I decided to develop a hardtail guitar bridge for multiscale guitar.

Nova Guitar Parts started to be created in 2016 with the manufacture of the hardtail guitar bridge for multiscale. In partnership with luthiers in Brazil I created in 2017, the model bridge for headless guitars and in 2018 a model for headless bass guitar. Today it is a company dedicated to the development of a product that best serves the luthier and the final consumer musician, applying the best materials for the use of these instruments, using brass and aluminum.

The challenges the business/market is facing

What motivated me to start the business was the opportunity to see that nobody made multiscale guitar and bass hardware in Brazil and it may seem cliché, but I always had the dream of being a Brazilian manufacturer of different products.

The biggest challenge at the beginning is to sell and show people that there is a national manufacturer that can find their own needs without having to look for solutions abroad.

Also the money to invest is very difficult because you don’t know if the people will buy it or not.

The opportunities the business/market is facing

The opportunity to see that nobody made multiscale guitar and bass hardware in Brazil like I was thinking about.
