BAD CARDIO HABITS

BAD CARDIO HABITS

While I usually recommend exercise as a health habit, some cardio habits could increase your aging process. For example;

Doing cardio exercises only

Cardio exercises are wonderful for improved heart health and general wellness. But be warned because they rarely increase muscle and bone mass, which is important for metabolism and reducing the risk of falls due to body weakness. Remember, as you age, your muscle mass reduces. That means cardio will only worsen the condition rather than help.

Doing HIIT workouts

I love HIIT workouts but I try to limit them. Frequently including HIIT in your exercise schedule increases possible risk of injuries. They can cause faster wearing out of the body, especially if you deny yourself enough rest.

Doing prolonged cardio sessions

Extended cardio sessions cause muscle breakdown and enhance free radicals release, which increases cells damage and inflammation. As a result, the aging process accelerates. I always tell my clients to do cardio workouts in moderation if they want to achieve the youthful gains of exercise.
