BENEFITS OF WALKING

If you are looking to improve your walking exercise, I recommend the following hacks;

Carry weights

Walking is good for improved cardiovascular health. But you can enhance the benefit by adding weight to your body. For example, I tell my clients to carry a backpack with a few items that increase its weight. Wearing wrist and ankle weights or light weight dumbbells can also give a different effect.

Use inclined routes

Walking on stairs or following an inclined track can improve your core strength and help burn more calories. You can also use a hilly park or go to a neighborhood hill. Even the treadmill can help if you alternate between flat and incline options.

Up your pace

If you want to reap more walking benefits, I recommend alternating the speeds. Start slowly and aim at gradually increasing the pace to a brisk walk. If you can maintain a quicker speed, commit to alternating between moderate and high intensity. You can also include simple resistance workouts, including lunges.
