– What does blood in semen mean? Should you be worried?

Blood in semen could indicate an infection or inflammation in the male reproductive system. While it can disappear without treatment, ensure to check with the doctor to rule out any concerns.

– What does the blood usually look like if it’s something of concern?

It may be;

  • Pink
  • Bright red
  • Reddish-brown or brownish

– When does it usually occur?

It can come when having;

  • A urinary tract infection.
  • Enlarged prostate or prostatitis.
  • Following a recent test or procedure like vasectomy or cystoscopy.

– When should you see your GP?

I recommend seeing a PG when you experience repeated incidences of blood in semen or have bloody symptoms when urinating and ejaculating. You can also consult when having a bleeding disorder or cancer risk.

The work of a family doctor includes a wide range of clinical diversity, which requires extensive knowledge and erudition from a specialist. However, I believe that the most important thing for a family doctor is to be human because the cooperation and understanding between the doctor and the patient are crucial in ensuring successful health care. On my days off, I love being in nature. Since childhood, I have been passionate about playing chess and tennis. Whenever I have time off, I enjoy traveling around the world.
