CONSTIPATION AS SIGN OF BOWEL CANCER THAT HAS SPREAD TO THE BONES

How advanced bowel cancer in the bones triggers this sign

Constipation occurs when colon cancer tumors enlarge to put pressure on the rectum, which overwhelms bowel movement. Sometimes, the tumor alters nerve supply to colon muscles, leading to constipation.

How to spot it and what to do once you identify it

It can be seen through unusual bowel habits, including cramping, abdominal discomfort, gas, or pain. You also feel an urge of passing stool continuously, but it cannot come. I usually tell my clients to counter the problem by;

  • Ask your doctor for over-the-counter stool softeners or supplements.
  • Hydrate more with hot fluids.
  • Exercise regularly.
  • Avoid foods that trigger constipation like eggs and cheese.
