FIVE WAYS TO ADD CBD TOPICAL PRODUCTS TO YOUR DAILY ROUTINE

What are some of the CBD topical products available? How does an individual use the products? This article explains how an individual can add CBD topical products to their daily routine.

The legalization of hemp and, subsequently, CBD in 2018 has seen it rise in popularity to become a household name. Moreover, it has seen the rise of various products provided as highly beneficial; one of these is CBD topical products.

CBD is a plant-based cannabinoid produced by cannabis plants using various extraction methods such as steam distillation. The extraction process utilizes leaves, flowers, roots, and stems of hemp. This results in an oil full of cannabinoid extracts and other hemp compounds such as terpenes and flavonoids and is known as full extract CBD. This oil may be further filtered to remove these cannabinoids or alter the extract’s composition. The extract is then used to make other products such as oils, tinctures, and topical creams. Topical products are any products made to be applied to the skin directly. This article seeks to advise how an individual can add topical CBD products to their daily routine.

 What Are CBD Topicals

Laborada & Cohen (2022) stated that topicals are any cream, oil, ointment, salve, balm, or lotion directly applied to one’s skin. CBD topicals are thus infused with CBD to deliver it to the body. The skin is the major body organ, and it’s the first defense. It contains numerous nerve receptors used to detect changes in the environment and the body itself. The skin contains specialized receptors known as endocannabinoid receptors. These receptors belong to the endocannabinoid system that works with the central nervous system to modulate body functions. Topical products present a unique way to administer CBD as most of these products contain ingredients other than CBD, which are beneficial to the skin in numerous ways. One can get creative with topical CBD in the following ways.

Morning Beauty Routine

Mornings can be stressful, especially if you have a busy schedule planned for the day. This, among many other factors, can trigger the brain to produce cortisol in high quantities, which might intensify stress levels as the cortisol levels are highest in the morning. Morris et al. (2021) explained that CBD is known to reduce stress levels by working on ECS receptors to regulate the production of cortisol. This is a good opportunity to use facial creams infused with CBD to elevate your mood and give you a jolt in preparing for the day.

Moreover, CBD is known to regulate the production of sebum oils by the skin. These glands are located on the face and the scalp, and overproduction of these oils by the body can lead to acne. According to Liu (2019), one can apply creams infused with CBD to bolster the effectiveness of these creams in reducing acne. CBD interacts with ECS receptors to reduce the overproduction of these oils, thus reducing the chances and effects of acne.

Using CBD-Infused Bath Bombs

After a long day, many people find that nothing restores their spirits faster than a soak in the bathtub, especially if they use bath bombs. Most commercialized bath bombs contain Epsom salts, skin-nourishing natural oils, and botanical extract blends. Corazza et al. (2019) stated that some bath bombs have recently been upgraded to include hemp extracts such as broad-spectrum CBD to help relieve stress and put you in a better mood. CBD bath bombs aren’t all that different from your average home spa treatment. They are intended to dissolve in hot water, filling your tub with a soothing blend of salts, scents, and natural oils that promote relaxation while nourishing your skin. In addition, the hot water used with bath bombs is advantageous as the hot water naturally opens up body pores to release toxins and increase the rate of absorption of available compounds. This intensifies the amount of CBD absorbed by the body and may aid in promoting faster absorption of CBD in the body. The increased bioavailability implies the greater efficacy of the CBD administered, thus promoting faster recovery from a long day at work.

During The Day or Work Hours

All work and no play make Jack a dull boy. Modern work areas are laden with stressful conditions that may hamper the productivity of an individual. These may range from back-to-back meetings or meeting deadlines for various reports. In addition, individuals working outside the office are mostly exposed to the sun, which may cause skin damage due to long exposure to ultraviolet rays, which damage collagen fibers and disrupt skin regeneration processes. This also results in free radicals, which are even more dangerous to the body. Fu & Lu (2021) stated that one could use lip balms infused with CBD to alleviate the effects of too much stress in the office. In addition, they can also apply hydrating creams infused with CBD on the face to administer the CBD directly. This is especially beneficial for individuals who suffer from dry skin conditions. Individuals working outside the office can use sun creams infused with CBD to bolster their effectiveness. Full-spectrum CBD and broad-spectrum CBD topicals contain terpenes, flavonoids, and antioxidants that effectively combat free radical damage. They may also help strengthen collagen fibers to make them firmer, giving one a youthful appearance.

In The Evening

It is not uncommon to find yourself fatigued in the evening after a long day. The body muscles are tired, and it is mostly a good time to recover and relax. In addition, some individuals prefer to visit the gym during these hours as it is the time when they are free before embarking on other activities. These activities may cause muscle tear, pain, and inflammation and hamper productive rest. Therefore, one can opt to use CBD oils to massage the muscles or the temples to alleviate much of this fatigue. Jadoon et al. (2017) explained that CBD might help one recover from a workout as it is known to cause vasodilation of blood vessels which increases blood flow to other body parts. This results in more oxygen supply to the muscles and easy extraction of waste materials from the body. Wallace et al. (2020) stated that one could also use CBD night creams to promote sleep, especially for individuals with insomnia.

Conclusion

CBD topicals are creams or oils applied directly to the skin. To administer CBD topicals can be used in the morning as one prepares for the day. They can also reduce anxiety and promote calmness during the day, especially when having a presentation at work. In addition, they can be used when one is exposed to the sun for long periods to reduce the effects of UV rays on the skin. Finally, one can use CBD topicals at night to promote sleep, especially in insomnia individuals.

I am deeply convinced that each patient needs a unique, individual approach. Therefore, I use different psychotherapy methods in my work. During my studies, I discovered an in-depth interest in people as a whole and the belief in the inseparability of mind and body, and the importance of emotional health in physical health. In my spare time, I enjoy reading (a big fan of thrillers) and going on hikes.
