Fleet: Britain’s Raunchiest Town

According to Halifax’s happiness survey, Fleet in Hampshire is the happiest place to live. People are happier here because the air is cleaner, there is less traffic, there is less crime, the broadband up-time is over 90% and people generally tend to live longer.

The streets aren’t paved with gold, but the residents do earn considerably more income than in other areas. And with such a beautiful city offering up such great statistics – what do you spend all of your extra money on?

Sex toys

Fleet has recently been announced as the nation’s sexiest location, scooping the top spot as the sex toy capital of Britain. The average spend on sex toys is around 62p per resident, and it’s all about experimentation as vibrators, whips and blindfolds are amongst the top-purchased items. Behind the drawn curtains is a world of orgasmic fun on the go, and it’s nothing new as the as survey looked at figures reaching back over three years.

Sex expert Tracey Cox said, “This is all about couples being experimental with their sex lives and realising you need to work at desire. Sex has never been steamier in the suburbs.”

The sexy suburbs have been a feature on the TV for as long as hit TV show Desperate Housewives has been airing (about 8 years), and experimental sex and the willingness to discuss it has come as a revelation after the success of Sex and the City. Sarah Anderson, Fleet resident and local coffee shop owner, said that nowadays: “I’m just as likely to chat to my female friends about vibrators as I am about clothes or lipstick.”

With sales of sex toys at an all-time high in Fleet, it’s no wonder that the residents are the happiest in Britain. They’re cheerfully passing in each other in the stores as they head home to raunchy rendezvous with their vibrators and strap-ons, or to experiment with light bondage with their supply of handcuffs and sexy restraints.

I am a supporter of a healthy lifestyle – I play sports, cycle, and swim in the lake all year round.
