Food poisoning can be contagious when caused by bacteria, viruses, and parasites. The common contagious bacteria include Salmonella, Listeria, Shigella, E, Coli Strains, and Staph. Hepatitis A and norovirus are the main viruses that can spread food poisoning, while parasites include; Taenia Solium, Giardia Duodenails, Toxoplasma Gondii, and Taenia saginata.
Can One Person Get Food Poisoning and Not Another Who Ate the Same Food?
In some cases, some people might fail to experience food poisoning symptoms while others fall sick. This is mainly linked to the differences in immunity or health levels and the mechanism of how the body fight bacteria, germs, viruses, or parasite causing the sickness. People with poor immunes are at higher risk of food poisoning though we can all get affected by it.
How Does Food Poisoning Spread?
For food poisoning to be contagious, it must be caused by parasites, bacteria, or viruses and not chemicals. The poisoning occurs when you consume foods or drinks or place anything in the mouth that has been contaminated or in contact with these organisms from the stool of an infected individual.
