Foods Responsible for Causing Breakouts

Foods Responsible for Causing Breakouts

Milk and Dairy Products

Milk and Dairy products trigger an insulinogenic response where the body has high insulin levels, resulting in inflammation that causes breakouts on the skin. Instead of dairy products, including vanilla ice cream cone for dessert, take a frozen banana almond butter concoction.

Soda

Soda is one of the drinks high in sugar. Consuming large amounts of sugar causes the “sugar rush,” which triggers breakouts. The best substitute for soda? As a registered nutritionist, I highly recommend iced tea or water with fresh lemon.

Milk Chocolate

Milk chocolate is high in sugar which, as previously stated, causes a “sugar rush,” setting the stage for acne and breakouts on your skin. What to eat instead? From a nutritionist’s point of view, opt for dark chocolate.

White Bread

White bread is loaded with gluten that encourages the production of high insulin levels. High levels of insulin trigger inflammation, causing breakouts. If you must eat something doughy, I strongly suggest that you go for unleavened or gluten-free options.
