GUT INFLAMMATION

GUT INFLAMMATION

What is gut inflammation? What happens to the body and what are the symptoms?

Gut inflammation or inflammatory bowel disease is a general term used to refer to several conditions or disorders that arise due to swelling or inflammation of the intestines and other digestive tract organs. The common are ulcerative colitis and Crohn’s disease.

The below signs can indicate gut inflammation;

  • Endless fatigue feelings
  • Diarrhea which may contain blood at times
  • Bloody stool
  • Stomach aches or pain
  • Low appetite
  • Cramping
  • Unexplained weight loss

Can certain foods or diets be responsible for gut inflammation?

From my research, long-term consumption of foods high in unhealthy fats, sugars, spices, sodium, and western diets can trigger improper functioning of the gut immune cells and increase the risk of paint cell dysfunction, a common causative of gut inflammation.

What else can gut inflammation be down to?

The exact causative gut inflammation is still not known. However, high-stress levels, family history or heredity, and other unhealthy lifestyle habits like severe alcohol drinking and smoking can heighten your risk.

Can you reduce gut inflammation with diet?

Yes, eating anti-inflammatory-friendly diets such as fruits, healthy fats, and veggies while limiting your intake of processed, high sugar, dairy, and unhealthy fats can lower gut inflammation as they reduce and provide the body with anti-inflammatory effects.

How else can people support their gut health?

I recommend you try new techniques to manage your stress levels, eat a well-balanced diet, consume more foods high in fiber, take probiotics, adopt a healthy lifestyle and exercise more frequently.
