GYM INTIMIDATION

As a woman who likes going to the gym, I would say that gym intimidation is a real thing and one of the major factors that hinder women from achieving their fitness goals.

What Are the Biggest Issues Putting Women Off the Gym

•             Gym intimidation in women can arise due to various reasons, including;

•             Women fear being judged by men and other women in the gym. This scares ladies as they feel their actions are not up to the demanded standards.

•             The idea of being corrected or ordered how to do contributes to gym intimidation.

•             Exposure to fitness goals or standards that are hard to achieve negatively affects our mental health and increases body insecurities.

•             The thought of having someone behind your back watching every move you make increases hyper-awareness in women and demotivates them going to the gym, especially busy ones with many members.

•             Lack of specific fitness goals to pursue or skills to handle gym equipment.

•             Worrying about what other gym members would think of their bodies or sweating a lot and getting red on the skin.

•             Some women lack confidence in their appearances in gym outfits.

How to Overcome It and Foster Confidence in The Gym

•             Find a training partner.

•             Set specific plans on what you are going to work on.

•             Find a good trainer to guide you on conducting all gym practice. Use the equipment and boost your confidence with regular comments or appreciation of your efforts.

•             Appreciate and love your body the way it is and avoid people with negative views towards you.

•             Focus on your exercises and have confidence in what you do.

•             Visit the gym in the off-peak hours to avoid unintended glares and dares.
