HOW CBD OIL IS BENEFICIAL IN DIABETES

///

Have you heard about cannabidiol, common as CBD? Maybe you hear or see people buy CBD-infused products for medicinal purposes. Well, there’s promising research showing how useful CBD can be in lessening stress, pain, and anxiety. The science behind feeling pain is that there’s a response relating to stress-causing cortisol and blood sugar increase. Therefore, reducing this pain implies alleviating the stress and maintaining the sugar levels in the bloodstream. Suppose you have this condition associated with sugar, diabetes, then have curiosity about the CBD substance as seen from studies. We’re going to discuss about the benefits one is likely to get from using CBD oil in managing diabetes. Let’s read on.

Can you tell the relationship between CBD and diabetes? We know that diabetes conditions are accompanied by inflammation. On the other hand, CBD is an anti-inflammatory drug, as suggested by most researchers. Studies have revealed how CBD has demonstrated a promising effect on decreasing insulin resistance. It has also shown how blood sugar moderation can be regulated for individuals not on insulin.

In an interview with a registered dietician and nutritionist called Kyle from New York, she answered various questions regarding CBD and diabetes. Remember, she is also a holistic cannabis practitioner. Among the questions asked is, are there direct impacts of CBD oil on blood sugar? In her response, she said that there’s no information on clinical tests showing direct CBD effects in humans with diabetes yet. It’s due to the illegality of marijuana use by the Federal Government.

However, it’s clear that the endocannabinoid system in humans is vital for regulation energy breakdown- an important aspect in individuals suffering from diabetes. According to upcoming research, it’s been suggested that this system monitors insulin sensitivity response through adipocytes. In simpler terms, the endocannabinoid system has a major role in the body’s response to the insulin hormone. It either raises or lowers insulin levels in the bloodstream. The mechanism is essential to victims ingesting insulin since they can unexpectedly experience a rise or fall in blood sugar levels.

Reports from people living with diabetes have shown different reactions to cannabidiol oil. For instance, some have reported a dramatic reduction in blood sugar, whereas others didn’t see any change. An instant reduction potentially bridges a danger to an individual, meaning it may not be a good recommendation. Otherwise, the two scenarios simply describe how people’s endocannabinoid systems are different.

CBD oil benefits and how to use

A doctor in Nevada, called Dr. Brandy, is a certified diabetes educator whose type 2 diabetes patients used CBD in managing nerve pain. These patients said they used CBD in oils and some in tinctures by applying it to the painful region. The CBD was bought mainly over the counter, making them worried about its impact on their blood sugar levels. It was reported that the CBD oil and tinctures reduced the pain and managed their sugar level. Furthermore, they said sleeping was better. More other people said CBD oil intake helped get them balanced. It simply means they easily wake up and do some sporting activities with ease. Afterward, they get quicker recovery from exercise, and their bodies are generally lighter for duties. An improved mood was also mentioned as a benefit in CBD oil use.

Another expert in cannabis research, named Heather Jackson, says there’s much interest in using CBD among patients with diabetes. That most people are looking for CBD as an alternative treatment. He added that callers keep asking questions about using CBD for Neurotherapy discomfort, gastrointestinal issues, or joint pain. Others ask if they can use it to control blood glucose in the body.

Jackson’s organization receives multiple inquiries on cannabis and its therapy. It even has a record of various callers, their residence, and health conditions. Currently, they’ve got more than 500 individuals. However, he informs that the organization doesn’t sell or grow cannabis. It only provides information about its administration, effects, side effects, and risks involved in the use. Essentially, they give information by educating clients about cannabis. Clients can use the things they learn to talk to their medical practitioners.

Research on CBD and type 2 diabetes and research barriers

Unfortunately, there’s still no data demonstrating CBD influences on type 2 diabetes. This was reported by a science doctor in health policy and management, called Tony Yang. He’s also a professor at George Washington University in the Nursing school. Another earlier study recommended that diabetes and CBD need more research. It’s because, in 2016, there was a study that sampled 62 patients suffering from diabetes type 2. They found that CBD didn’t have any effects on their sugar levels. Of the sample, some took diabetes medicines, but others didn’t.

 The group was randomly divided into five categories and treated with 100mg CBD twice daily for 13 weeks. They were also given 5mg THCV- another cannabis compound, twice daily for the same period. Later, results showed a significant improvement in blood sugar level, which they said was caused by the THCV compound and not CBD. There are more evolving studies on CBD. For example, rats were used to determine CBD effects on diabetes. It is generally considered the endocannabinoid system that controls pain, sleep, and stress, among others. More other studies have been shown to look at CBD and diabetes but not directly focusing on CBD.

The bottom line

Cannabidiol or CBD is a compound extracted from cannabis hemp. It’s recently gaining popularity and greater attention for its usefulness in health. In its various forms, CBD oil is coming first on the list. But is it beneficial in treating diabetes? Well, as seen earlier, the Federal Government and FDA don’t recognize its use. That simply means individuals considering it as an alternative for pharmaceutical drugs should consult their doctor about its impacts before adding to their usual treatment. Experts advise that while it’s a natural treatment choice, it still deserves having a conversation with your health caregiver. Ensure your doctor is aware, more so when having extreme pain or any other symptoms related to diabetes.
