Helt Studio, a modern chef uniform store

Helt Studio, a modern chef uniform store, began with one simple idea — what you wear to work should work for you. Drawing from years of experience as chefs and restaurant owners, we reimagined uniform design from the ground up with performance fabrics sourced from around the world and designs made right here in Los Angeles.

When we began, we saw that many apparel brands didn’t care enough to offer uniforms that are targeted to the everyday life of the ordinary kitchen worker. After years of their disruption in the field, we believe that our uniforms have changed the space for the better.

APPAREL EXCELLENCE

Helt Studio’s uniforms are built for comfort, style, and functionality, using technologically advanced fabrics that make our customers and their teams proud to go to work. Our chef uniform store elevates uniforms from mediocrity and creates products that our customers are excited to wear every day for both their quality and the brand they represent.

By combining our years of experience in the industry with advanced performance textiles, we’ve been able to develop workwear that works for you. Our products complement and move with you in your daily tasks. They empower teams to take pride in their craft and execute with efficiency.

INDUSTRY-GROWN

Our professional uniform store started with providing its products to some of the top restaurants and cafes in Los Angeles and has quickly grown to service customers around the world in just a few years. The quality of our products and competitive pricing speak for themselves, making us a go-to kitchen uniform store for many modern restaurant owners. To this day, a majority of our clients have come from referrals and continue to reorder every year for an updated look and fresh style.

Superior design, engineering, and quality have brought our chef uniform store’s products across the world, but this is just the beginning. Join Helt Studio’s #UniformRevolution and help us empower the community to feel better and do better.

It’s never a smooth road!

Pandemic / COVID

During the pandemic, we were struggling along with the whole Food and Beverage industry. A lot of the restaurants and coffee shops were shut down, struggling financially, and not sure if they should continue.

Every time when there’s a struggle, that always means that there’s opportunity. We took the chance and switch gear / pivot on creating reusable masks and coverall for clients in the frontline medical field to support the community. While the chef / kitchen workers continue to support the community, we would like to provide them safety protection. We also did a donation of masks to hospitals and other organization trying to support the best as we can.

As things are re-opening, the pandemic also inspired us to create a merchandise program for our customers, we now do not only provide apparel solution for restaurants / coffee shops, but we also make merch for them to sale. That’s a way to help them create another stream of revenue (income) which can potentially help them sustain from a financial standpoint.

Helt means “HERO” in Norwegian. We are a professional chefwear uniform apparel fashion company that is laser focusing on innovative technological fabric. We believe all the kitchen workers / chef / baristas are hero to their community and to their family. They work hard in hot / tough situations especially during the pandemic to continue to support their family. We want to be a part of their lives to be able to support by providing the best looking high functional apparel solution to make them look good and feel good while they work. We want to be the Alfred Pennyworth to Batman.

Helt Studio was born on the philosophy that chefs and culinary workers should have access to the same functional and innovative tech fabric that pro-athletes do. When we realized that there were little to no alternatives to the stiff, impractical traditional uniforms made of heavy poly-cotton or twill, we knew something had to change. We decided to tackle this problem head-on and set off to create tech-backed uniform solutions that would stand the test of time in the hottest of kitchens while keeping culinary workers looking and feeling good.

THE SCIENCE BEHIND THE FIT

Unlike other chef uniform companies, it has always been Helt’s mission to celebrate chefs and kitchen workers as the frontline heroes they are. Having been neglected by the industry for far too long, we are committed to producing uniform solutions that make frontline workers look and feel their best shift after shift — all made ethically in the U.S.A.

Early on, we partnered with an industry-leading tech fabric manufacturer and engineered our CrewTech Fabric — our first innovative uniform solution featuring a water-repelling, 4-way stretch, sweat-wicking material that keeps the wearer cool, moisture-free, and clean. With that, Helt’s first chef coat was born.

Twelves months later, we created our first apron. Even though we still worked with traditional materials like denim and cotton canvas, we cranked up the functionality by engineering our exclusive Durable Water-Repellent Coating for our canvas uniform solutions. Unlike traditional canvas aprons sold by other chef uniform companies that stain and absorb liquids through to the wearer’s clothes, our Durable Water-Repellent Coating added a protective barrier. This offered added protection from liquids seeping through like grease, sauces, and other messy liquids encountered in the kitchen — keeping chefs lookin’ fresh even after the messiest shift.

In 2019, we launched CrewTech Lite — the lighter version of our original CrewTech Fabric. Offering the same function and performance, CrewTech Lite was the lighter, more breathable innovative uniform solution and little brother of our flagship CrewTech Fabric.

As one of the first and only chef uniform companies to combine chef uniform solutions with technologically advanced material, Helt Studio remains committed to pioneering the culinary uniform industry by producing top-quality, functional apparel that empowers the culinary community to feel better and work better.

We create our hashtag as #notallheroeswearcapes (An apron is basically a cape worn backward anyways!)

ADVICE

The more important lesson that we learned due to the Covid-19 Crisis was that with any crisis, there’s always opportunity. It’s really about being persevere on the values / things that you truly believe in.
