How can coffee impact the skin during air travel? Why?
Coffee dehydrates the skin making it dull and aged. It contains caffeine, which is diuretic. This means it removes water quickly from the body, and the situation may worsen due to dry cabin air that mainly dehydrates air travelers.
Does coffee lead to dry skin in non-flying situations?
Definitely yes, due to its diuretic properties. A high caffeine intake causes dehydration that dries the skin, making it dull.
How can travelers keep skin hydrated when flying?
I advise my clients to apply moisturizer for hydrating the skin, on the arms, face, and feet. Application frequency depends on how your skin loses moisture and flight length. Wearing long-sleeved outfits also helps reduce contact with the temperature aboard the plane. Also, politely decline the offered beverages, especially alcohol that excessively dehydrates. Drink more water and wear glasses to reduce dry eyes discomfort.
