How High-Sugar Foods Are Detrimental to Weight Loss

As a registered dietician, I discovered that adding high sugar foods to your diet plan is a sure way of jeopardizing your weight loss goals. High-sugar foods increase the sugar stores in your system. Increased sugar in the body cause imbalance between the hunger hormones (leptin and ghrelin). The imbalance between these two hormones increases your hunger and reduces your satiety. For this reason, you will eat more than your usual amount, harming your weight loss goals.

Worst High-Sugar Food for Weight Loss

White bread tops my list of worst high-sugar weight loss. This is because it is made from highly refined wheat and harbors more added sugar. Being made from highly refined wheat means white bread does not give you the benefits of essential nutrients like fiber. We all know fiber increases satiety, preventing you from eating more. While added sugars increase your hunger, there is no fiber to balance things with satiety. This results in overeating, making you susceptible to weight gain and obesity.

What Are Some Alternatives?

Since white bread is detrimental to weight loss, replace it with almond flour bread, cornbread, or oopsie bread.
