HOW TO MAKE A DIGITAL DETOX HAPPEN

Tips on how to make a digital detox stick

As a therapist, here are some effective tips to help your digital detox stick;

Spend more time outdoors or in green spaces

Setting time aside to connect with nature can help you disconnect from the digital world as you improve your connection with the environment and inner self. They are many nature activities to take part in such as hiking, riding, camping, wild adventures, and more that help relieves mental stress and break from digital resources. Avoid using any digital assets when outdoors.

Set a realistic schedule and abide by it

Creating an effective schedule that consists of important or must-do things which enhance your happiness while limiting time spent online, on social media, and on TVs and sticking by it can make detoxing easier. Prioritize time spent outdoors, having fun working out, and set less time to spend on the phone or other gadgets majorly to check on important notifications. Make it a habit to live in the moment and avoid distractions from digital assets.

Other tips to employ are;

  • Have frequent breaks from blue screens.
  • Engage in physical activities and other fun ideas that don’t demand any digital accessory.
  • Have internet-free spaces
  • Use digital gadgets only when you need them.
  • Keep your notifications muted, uninstall apps that you don’t use, and keep any distractive asset whether a phone, tablet, or laptop far from your reach.

What are the benefits of doing it?

A digital detox can significantly improve your life balance as you set more time to be in the moment and the real world. This has proven to aid in reducing stress, anxiety, depression, and other mental disorders linked to the usage of digital assets. People easily boost their social connection with loved ones, lead a happier life, lower multitasking, and experience a great relief linked to the usage of digital devices. This can improve one’s physical and mental health.
