Impress The Ladies With These Three “Clean-Up” Tips

It has been said that cleanliness is next to godliness and this is particularly important for any man looking to impress the ladies. Many men make little to no effort in maintaining their personal hygiene and grooming, whilst others hold the false impression that only a body from the pages of Men’s Health magazine can win a woman over. Well guess what, they’re both wrong: what most women are looking for in terms of appearance is neither caveman nor Adonis, but simply a well groomed guy who carries himself with confidence. Looking good for the ladies is not difficult, and in fact, grooming is incredibly easy.

First off, smell. Women are particularly sensitive to scent and there’s no faster turn off than a man who reeks of BO. Many women enjoy a man who smells like a man, but that doesn’t translate into “showers are for pansies”. Take a bath guys and after that, add a splash of deodorant. No one’s asking you to avoid ever working up a sweat or to drown yourself in cologne (which I might add, is also unattractive for its sheer overpowering odor), just to make sure that you smell decent. After all, when you wrap your arms around a woman, you want her to be drawn to you, not repulsed.

Next on the list, fingernails. This is a bad one when it comes to guys neglecting their grooming, with many men sporting jagged white, cracked cuticles and dirt under the nails. Guys take note; those are the things you’re planning to touch the object of your desire with. No one wants to be caressed by the hands of a ghoul! Again, it’s about the balance here. You’re not expected to book a manicure every week, but a bit of attention paid to the removal of hangnails and the pushing back of cuticles goes a long way. Trust me, ladies tend to notice these things.

Lastly, hair. Men’s fashion in popular media has sent conflicting messages on this point, with manly stubble, the classic “three day-er” having been popularized by the movie industry whilst a clean shaven body (armpits and legs included) is often touted as the apex of glorious masculinity. Honestly guys, there is no single “look” to which you’re expected to conform. Looking outright shaggy is rarely desirable though, so a haircut every now and then is a good idea. Also, sporting sparse facial hair under the misconception that “real men” have beards is equally foolish as you’ll just end up looking prepubescent – even if you’re having a midlife crisis. Carefully-planned cruffiness can be appealing but so can the trim and shaven look. So long as you don’t look like a wookie, you’re probably doing fine.

The way you look is important when it comes to charming women, so make sure that you look like the kind of person you’d want to meet.
