Our goal is to improve or customers ways of feeling good about themselves, this isn’t only through skincare but also by self-care. Making it fun and easy to have a healthy routine which allows you to see from the outside in.

Le’Aura all started in a one-bedroom basement apartment in a small kitchen located in Brooklyn NY, where artisan Tamoya decided that she wanted to make her own body products for her 8 year old daughter, who suffered from dry skin and a mild form of eczema. As a concerned mother, Tamoya was frustrated with buying products that were filled with irritating chemicals that just didn’t work or buying overly expensive creams that her daughter would easily misplace at school. One day Tamoya researched on what natural oils and butters would work best for her daughter’s skin. Her very first product was the Cocoa Shea Aloe Butter. This body butter was given to family, friends and employees, everyone requested more. This became a hobby for her as she spent all her extra time after her 9 to 5 making new formulas. It wasn’t long before the word spread about her products. Tamoya and her daughter Nyny became a team and turned this hobby into a business that would continue to grow and get noticed through the years.

Being in the (natural) skincare field definitely is a challenge and isn’t easy as it’s known to be one of the most oversaturated niches of today. It’s difficult because there are so many others businesses you have to go up against to prove that your products stand out and grabs the attention of your audience. Another task or challenge would have to be not having the support and or finances initially as bigger companies may have when starting out. Being a small business starting from the bottom up isn’t for the weak! It comes with so many downs and breakable moments that will have one thinking why, but this is were the drive of It being your passion comes into play and helps to motivate you when you don’t have support, when you aren’t making a dollar or meeting your daily goals, passion becomes your payment which makes you keep going. Some may think once you “make it” that’s the end all and be all to your problems which simply isn’t true. You have to always keep reinventing yourself and business to be the best and desirable for your target audience, if you get comfortable and lazy to learn more then you will not grow. Scaling a business or just having a business is a hard task that can get draining and cause even personal relationship between family and friends to diminish as you sacrifice A lot but once your passion is rewarded you then see why it was all worth the struggle.

Being a business that took off during the pandemic was an amazing thing because a lot of businesses such as ours being a black owned business were offered a lot of help financially while also got time to shine as being black owned started to be a “marketable thing” My daughter and I definitely took advantage of this by promoting our skincare business every chance we could, showing the our behind the scene and telling our story over and over again while being authentic and organic. People loved this and just wanted to know more about this mother and daughter skincare duo which gained us a lot of positive attention with features and working with brands and gaining exposer.

Our biggest advice to anyone who is deciding to either start a business and or who is running a business is to stay consistent! This may always sound like the most cliché advice to give but it’s a reason why everyone will always say it. You must show up in order to see results whether the result isn’t what you want it still gives you a chance to see what will work and what wouldn’t, so being consistent is an essential part to growing. I would also give the last piece of advice of choosing a niche or target audience and getting as specific as possible as you can in knowing them and your market. You don’t to be so general and board on who you’re selling to as this makes it harder for you to be original and unique. The more specific you are the smaller your competition get and the more you get to know your audience. This will allow you to be seen more to your audience as choice. Through the years I’ve found this to be a very helpful tip which if I knew prior, I would have maximized on this. I started out with adding so many products for an and everyone and trying to please everyone without having and actual target audience or niche, this cause a lot of trial and error and a lot of lost money, so if you can avoid this you definitely should. We came up with Moya Loves Coaching – Business Mentoring to help those in need with starting out while offering guidance, which is much needed in the start of every business. We also document our trails and success on our Moyaloves youtube channel https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCimoznMo0r_y2XaGuH0BAVw, showing the authentic side of running and growing our small business, as many may see the accomplishments but don’t see what it takes to get there. We show our subscribers all of this to help them grow from our mistakes and also show the organic path to our accomplishments.
