Meir Schneider and the School for Self-Healing in San Francisco

I was born with congenital cataracts and had five unsuccessful surgeries that cause me near complete blindness. My parents were deaf so I was raised as a blind kid to deaf parents.  I got a permanent blind certificate from the State of Israel.

While the whole world thought I will remain blind, a sixteen years old high school dropout taught me natural vision improvement exercises.  Also an elderly woman had shown me movements to go along with them.  I was so enthused that I spend 13 to 16 hours a day working on my eyes. My enthusiasm was for a good reason; I improved my vision greatly. In the meantime, my older teacher taught me ways to work with others.

My practice started in Israel. I came to the US to study and as I studied, I started to build a first center with an optometrist, Ray Gottlieb.  Then, I built several other centers in different places in the world. I was able to build the School for Self-Healing, a non-profit organization and I enjoyed a lot of public support.  Our size is not huge but my work spread all over the country and all over the world.  People from different parts of the world invite me for lectures online and in-person.  Some people teach my work in other countries. Many people from all four corners of the world come for healing and study with us.

We are offering online classes for Natural vision improvement, workshops for self-healing through movement and Natural Vision Improvement and vocational training for people to help others. Occasionally, we also do fundraiser for clients in need who need to pay for the treatment and travel.

Lately I formed a publishing house as an adjunct to our school.  I am the author of different books.

  • Movement for Self-healing with the story of different people who got better through our method of exercise and their great spirit.  My wish is for people to see themselves in the different characters that healed in the book.
  • Vision for Life, a practical book, shows ten steps that people can take to improve their vision (translated in 15 languages).
  • Awakening your Power of Self-Healing shows people how to prevent most illnesses and shows them how to overcome them if they became ill.

Beside of the work we do with groups, we also work individually with clients with great success, people with paralysis who get better, people with spine problems and injuries who got better, people with arthritis who move better after our work, and people with various vision issues, from problems like pathologies (cataracts, glaucoma, macular degeneration, retinitis pigmentosa, and many others) to simple errors of refraction, like nearsightedness (myopia), farsightedness (presbyopia) and astigmatism.

Because of my huge improvement (from 1% to 70% of normal vision; I even got a drivers license without restriction from California), I have a great belief in people’s ability to improve.  I want to share my belief with them in practical ways.

My mission is to bring a new consciousness to the world and to show the world that movement can lead to a huge change.  While there is no exact similarity to what I do, more and more people believe in brain plasticity and they believe that movement and exercise can affect the brain. More and more people also practice different disciplines of consciousness of the body.  However, my work is unique and his success is outstanding.  My marketing is simply lectures and demonstrations.
