It was only a matter of time until the “pimp my ride” craze made it’s away across the networks and landed in “adult” territory. Now, jewelled vibrators and gold-plated dildos are hot commodities, with many fashion-conscious females opting for a more feminine and attractive design over the traditional “huge dong” dildos you might see in male-oriented adult films.
So, when US-based adult store Good Vibrations wanted to come up with something amazing to celebrate their 36th year of business, the turned the glamour vibe and hosted a full throttle Bling My Vibe competition.
Entrants were competing for an adult-themed gift basket and gift vouchers to use on the Good Vibrations site. The objective of the competition was to take a simple vibrator, and then give it a bit of bling by painting it, drawing on it, appliqueing on it, sewing for it, dazzling it up with jewels and beads, adding feathers, and just about anything crafty that they could imagine.
With hundreds of entries received, it’s no wonder that things got a little crazy. One contestant entered a beaded octopus vibrator, another entered a light-saber wielding Darth Vader.
Celebrity judges Carol Queen and Annie Sprinkle chose three top glamour vibes to be crowned top designers: the winning design featured a gold-painted Barbie riding atop a rocket vibe named bob. It was called Goddess Vioclit. Hardly a useable design, but oh what a centre piece!
The runners up were Geisha, a beautifully adorned vibrator featuring a kimono, an umbrella and a scarily-realistic up-do,and We Come From France, a cheeky trio of coneheads.
