DUMBBELLS, BARBELLS KETTLEBELLS

SHOULD YOU INVEST IN DUMBBELLS, BARBELLS OR KETTLEBELLS?

Who would benefit most from dumbbells at home?

Beginners

Dumbbells are easier to use, thus favoring beginner skills, and they are easy to get.

Strength trainers

If your goal is to gain strength, dumbbells are ideal as they can offer isolation movement.

What about barbells? What about kettlebells?

I recommend barbells to weight lifters looking to boost their power and speed for increasing athletic performance. They help load more weight for fewer sets and are wonderful for progressive overload in your training. Conversely, kettlebells work well for more advanced exercisers who can execute proper form to void injuries. They also help exploit explosive movement and strength.

What is your advice to men debating whether to invest in dumbbells, barbells or kettlebells for their home gym?

I think the choice comes to personal preference and space. Some people want to gain strength, lose weight, or gain power. Others want something favorable for their abilities and skills. But I recommend investing in all the equipment if you have the space and can afford them because each has benefits, which when put together can go along way in promoting your exercise goals.

If you had to choose only one of those pieces of equipment, which one would you go for and why?

I would definitely choose dumbbells because of versatility and strength gains. I like how they help maneuver various workouts for most body muscles.
