Chest pain occurs following improper coronary arteries function due to impaired blood flow. Sometimes, the plaques formed from cholesterol accumulation can rupture or tear, forming a blood clot. This can block blood flow to some parts of the heart resulting in a heart attack. For stroke, blood flow is hindered from reaching the brain.

High cholesterol can accumulate more with time resulting in arterial wall deposits- atherosclerosis. This causes decreased blood circulation, translating to the side effects mentioned above.
