SURPRISING FOOD AND DRINK THAT CAN RUIN OR IMPROVE SLEEP

Here are some foods you didn’t know ruins your sleep;

Cruciferous vegetables

Spinach, sprouts, cauliflower, broccoli and other cruciferous veggies are loaded with vitamins, amino acids, minerals, tryptophans and other phytochemicals that are essential for a healthy body. However, they are also high in insoluble fibers, consuming large amounts of cruciferous veggies increases insoluble fiber levels slowing down digestion which impacts peaceful sleep.

Dark chocolate

Its high in caffeine and tyrosine which can increase brain alertness or make it difficult to all sleep due to the stimulating effects.

Red meat

Though high in iron and proteins, it also contains fatty acids that can slow down food digestion interrupting your sleep circles. The high proteins can also trigger sleep apnea lowering your sleep quality.

Alcohol

The dehydrating and diuretic effects can lead too poor quality REM sleep.

Foods that can improve sleep include

Banana

They are rich in magnesium, tryptophan amino acids and potassium which aid in body relaxation and enhance production of more serotonin chemicals for better sleep. 

Cherries

They are high in natural melatonin, eating them can promote better sleep as they stimulate production of more sleep or melatonin hormones.
