CBD SUBLINGUAL VS. CBD TOPICALS VS. CBD VAPES

CBD is a compound derived from the cannabis plant and has 0.3% or less THC. The cannabinoid has various health benefits for the human body and anatomy. Some of the methods of taking CBD are through vaping, sublingually, or as a topical.

Cannabinoid, popularly known as CBD, has gained popularity since hemp was legalized in 2018 by the Farm bill. Many countries worldwide are legalizing the compound, while few are still holding it back. According to research published by Technavio, the market price of CBD is expected to grow by 29billion US dollars by 2025. Scientists worldwide reveal new details of the new compound CBD and its methods like vaping. The CBD is usually handled using various methods such as vaping, sublingually, or as topicals. These methods have their unique advantages, and people settle on a method working best for them.

What Is A CBD Topical?

A CBD topical is any lotion, cream, balm, or salve infused with the CBD for direct application to the skin. Topicals are easily made, and the critical step in making them is an infusion of the cannabinoid into the other product, like, lotion, cream, balm, or salve. Unlike other methods of taking the CBD that involve ingestion through the mouth, topicals are applied on the skin’s surface.

How Are CBD Topicals Absorbed Into The Body?

The human skin has several layers: dermis, epidermis, and hypodermis. The epidermis is the outermost layer of the skin where the CBD topical is applied and usually has scars, pores, and even freckles. The dermis is the layer of skin under the dermis. It comprises dermis hair follicles, nerve endings, and blood vessels.

The ability of CBD topicals to ease different conditions in the body is because of the endocannabinoid system. This complex system is used for signaling and comprises cannabinoid receptors such as the CB2 and CB1, endocannabinoids, and enzymes. This system regulates the body’s processes, such as sleep, memory, and immune responses.

Whenever a CBD topical is applied to any part of the body, it isn’t directly absorbed into the bloodstream. According to Manzanares et al. (2006), It interacts with close cannabinoid receptors; the same receptors will send signals to endocannabinoids, alleviating pain in a particular part of the body.

The study above also suggested that this complex ensures  CBD topicals offer relief to pain and soothe and heal damaged skin parts. CBD is usually the main ingredient in all its topicals and is always complemented like oil to protect and nourish the skin.

What Are the Health Benefits of CBD Topicals?

According to Baswan et al. (2020), CBD topicals can provide therapeutic benefits for acne and eczema. The study above also showed that it could help to relieve skin problems like inflammation, irritated skin, and sores.

CBD Sublingual

What is a CBD Sublingual?

A CBD sublingual is a cannabinoid taken orally by placing it under the tongue. The CBD oil and tincture are usually taken using this method.

Why Is The CBD Sublingual Taken Under The Tongue?

The mouth is a vital organ of the human body. The area under the tongue is full of membranes and blood vessels. The thin mucous membranes under the tongue ensure the CBD is absorbed into the blood vessels carrying it through the blood to other body areas. Absorption takes little time after the blood vessels absorb the CBD. The CBD product lands in the gastrointestinal tract when swallowed orally and takes almost two hours to be absorbed into the bloodstream. According to Millar et al.(2020), the sublingual method ensures quick absorption of the CBD product.

CBD Vapes

The CBD Vape is the current method of taking the CBD compound. Many young adults and teenagers prefer the vaping culture. Vaping involves inhaling and exhaling the CBD vapor into the lungs.

How Does Vaping Work?

Vaping CBD involves inhaling and exhaling the CBD vape juice. According to Guo et al. (2021), CBD vape juice is made by extracting cannabinoid from the hemp plant and adding it to Vegetable glycerin and propylene. Huber et al.(2020) discovered that CBD isolate is preferred when making vape juice because it is pure. A flavor is added to the vape juice to make it taste better. A vaping device such as a vape pen converts the liquid into vapor to be inhaled.

Once the CBD vape has been inhaled, it will be absorbed into the bloodstream by numerous blood vessels found in the lungs. There is usually a limit on the number of puffs a person should take. It is necessary to maintain proper hygiene to ensure the CBD vape is strong. Use a narrow bow drip and avoid exhaling significant fumes of smoke.

Vaping brings good experiences and helps ease pain, anxiety, and stress (Gold, 2021). A person can inhale or use the CBD vape anywhere in public since it’s legal.

CBD Sublingual Vs. CBD Topicals Vs. CBD Vapes

The three are methods of taking CBD. CBD topicals are applied on the skin while sublingual and vapes are taken orally by mouth (Lui, 2019). The sublingual and vapes have a high bioavailability rate in the absorption rate, as Zhao et al. (2021) suggested. They go directly to the bloodstream to be transported around the body to be absorbed. The study above also stated that the two oral methods are suitable for relieving anxiety, stress, and depression. They can also be used to treat pain. On the other hand, CBD topicals help alleviate problems associated with the skin, such as acne and eczema. They also help in keeping the skin clear and smooth.

Conclusion

CBD is a product with many health and therapeutic benefits. Researchers and medics worldwide are doing more research and clinical trials to explore its capabilities. The methods of taking the CBD usually vary, and each method has its unique advantages and disadvantages. Vaping CBD is the current method preferred by teenagers and young adults. The topical way, for instance, provides benefits to the skin. The other oral forms do not heal scars and soothe the skin. There are many methods of taking CBD. They included vaping, sublingually or as a topical.

I am deeply convinced that each patient needs a unique, individual approach. Therefore, I use different psychotherapy methods in my work. During my studies, I discovered an in-depth interest in people as a whole and the belief in the inseparability of mind and body, and the importance of emotional health in physical health. In my spare time, I enjoy reading (a big fan of thrillers) and going on hikes.
