THAT MAKE SOMEONE LESS ATTRACTIVE (NOT BODY SHAMING)

Poor grammar

If you are looking to attract a love interest, speaking broken English or other language can be a great turn off. A study demonstrated that most people, especially on dating sites are keen on misspellings and bad grammar when texting or on profile. Poor punctuation and spelling may show lack of education or interest. Why not write to impress if that is your intention?

Stress

Research shows that extremely stressed women seemed less attractive to heterosexual men. It shows they had high cortisol levels, which researchers linked to infertility and bad health.

Excessive pride or happiness

Happiness and pride are thought to be attractive to women and men respectively, but it may not be real. It is not clear why this happens but may be linked to western norms and cultures. For instance, a man is supposed to appear ‘strong’ and ‘quiet’ and women should be ‘submissive a’ and ‘vulnerable’.

Meanness

A 2014 study asked men and women to rate images of people displayed with words, including honest, decent, mean, and evil. Some pictures lacked words to accompany. The pictures with evil and mean were rated as less attractive.

Telling lies

Almost everybody dislikes liars. They turn them off. Even a study that asked participants to go through blurbs containing people with characters, including dependent or independent, honest or dishonest, and intelligent or unintelligent. Honesty was the only impactful on likability and attractiveness ratings.
