THE CONCEPT OF STARVING OFF BAD GUT BACTERIA

THE CONCEPT OF STARVING OFF BAD GUT BACTERIA

What Is Bad Vs.? Good Gut Bacteria

Good bacteria are the gut microbiome associated with improving numerous health functions such as enhancing food digestion, breaking down, absorbing nutrients, and strengthening the immune by regulating the number of bad gut bacteria, including bifidobacteria or lactobacillus.

Bad bacteria are normally low in the gut. However, an increase in bad gut bacteria can increase the risks of diseases and premature aging.

What is the concept of ‘starving off’ bacteria? How is it thought to work?

In my opinion, the concept of staving gut bacteria is based on the belief that limiting the intake of proteins can aid in regulating or decreasing the number of the gut microbiome. It works by; limiting protein lowers the number of nitrogen atoms secreted by our guts, leading to competition for resources or food among the microorganisms. The fewer proteins we take, the fewer nitrates or nitrogen molecules we produce. The gut microbiome feed with the aid of the nitrates molecules; lowering the ratio of nitrogen to carbon atoms from 1: 10 to 1:4 is thought to aid in starving gut bacteria. Some studies and science support this idea, but more research is needed to determine the full chemistry.

What other/better ways are there to reduce bad gut bacteria?

I recommend you eat more foods high in prebiotic fibers like onions, oats, legumes, and asparagus. Take probiotic supplements, lower stress levels, and eat processed and sugary food in moderate amounts.
