Caged and trapped in a deteriorating state of mental health, she tried to understand how she ended up in this situation. “I started my professional life as a banker, and to be brutally honest, that was the life I knew,” said Nida. “I was constantly working, stuck on an endless loop of bringing home a paycheck. It was a mundane way of life, but at the same time, a lovely vacation was a way to go home, rest, and reset. That is until I realized it was all a dream; I was only fooling myself. The mundaneness of life was slowly eviscerating my passion for life, and I didn’t feel inspired in anything I did. Then I broke down, not emotionally (not yet) but physically.”

To make matters worse, Nida’s professional life as a banker didn’t fit with the worsening physical condition of her knees. Then, at 37, she developed the early stages of Osteoarthritis in her knees. “Like a bolt of lightning flashing in the night, I was quick to realize the seriousness of the pain I was enduring. I summoned my inner courage and steeled myself, realizing that I was not going on that summer trek I had planned,” said Nida. 

“Soon, more questions invaded my mind: ‘Would I be able to go on any journeys, for that matter?’ ‘Would my condition ever let me go back to the gym?’ ‘Would I ice skate?’ ‘Would I be able to run around and play with my child?’ Pessimism started to breed within me as I realized just how serious my condition had become. But as Rumi had thoughtfully penned, the wound is a place where light enters you. And thinking about this, my road to recovery began. I knew that this road would have obstacles, but I was ready to give it my all.” 

With her rekindled dedication and powerful passion, Nida set out to start something of her own, bound by a sense of purpose and fulfillment. After several attempts at maintaining a lasting solution that didn’t include cost and time-consuming therapies, she realized there was a better way to manage this condition. Although the treatments were effective and relieved her, Nida researched the possibilities of technology and the potential to develop a product that would have longer-lasting effects.
