THE MENTAL HEALTH BENEFITS OF PRACTICING KINK

A *study conducted in 2013 found that people that regularly engage in kink and BDSM reported being happier than those that did not.

BDSM and kink when used with other mental health treatment can be a great form of therapy for many people. Mental health problems often leaves a person to feel powerless and vulnerable. Kink and BDSM is a way for them to regain their power and realise that being vulnerable isn’t necessarily a bad thing. Some people describe kink as having a cathartic element to it.  Kink can be a great way for a person to open up a conversation about what they like, what they don’t like and what they need sexually without the fear of judgement.  People have reported that kink and BSDM allows them to escape from their heads for a while which gives them relief. It can help people to change their perspectives of themselves and others and empower them in a way they never thought possible. It can also be great for helping people with trust issues.
