Founder’s/Owner’s story and what motivated them to start the business
For over 25 years, I have been a successful business entrepreneur starting, owning, operating and selling three successful consumer products companies in the US housewares Industry. With these companies, I had the great fortune of building a workforce of employees where I was able to positively impact their lives and careers as their employer and leader. In running these companies, I learned that being a successful leader as nothing to do with power, control, money, fame, or prestige and everything to do with serving my people. I believe that the definition of leadership is have the desire to serve others and the dedication to make everyone around you great. Owning my companies allowed me the opportunity to change, transform and positively impact all the lives of my people. There is no such thing as a business, there is only people and as a leader, if you can transform the lives of your people for the better, you, yourself will reap unmeasurable rewards. I lived to improve the lives of everyone who worked for me and now I spend my life working to create the next generation of leaders through my teachings of service, generosity, kindness, understanding, humility and integrity combined with a strong connection to God who takes care every second of every day.
The challenges the business/market is facing
The greatest challenge I face now is communicating to corporate America that their leadership is leading all wrong. Right now, the world is starving for leaders…true leaders, not fake leaders who are all about their own gain and success. Companies need to understand if they put people into leadership positions who are focused on everybody else’s success except their own, their company with thrive and grow at unprecedented levels. It’s a change in mindset on the part of leadership teams that they must consider embracing. This is what my seminars teach. I guarantee a 25-50% improvement in culture and performance following my seminars.
The opportunities the business/market is facing
The greatest opportunities I face is the exciting and growing desire on the part of many companies to actually be open to changing their leadership culture and mindset. Covid 19 forced corporations to re-invent the way they operate and I am seeing more and more companies look for new and creative ways to improve their employees and management lives, mindsets and attitudes towards how they operate their businesses. These are the types of companies that get the most ROI from my seminars.
Advice to others about business
The best advice I can give to businesses is to operate with the mindset that the single most important thing in your business is not your customers, your cash flow, your product, your service, your building, your investors or your bank. The single greatest asset in your business is YOUR PEOPLE! Take care of your people and your people will grow your business to monumental heights. Provide security, safety, joy, fairness, empowerment, trust, fun, and unlimited potential to grow and the success of the company will be eminent.
It’s up to employers to identify the gifts and talents of each and every employee and they channel their gifts into the appropriate place in the business where they can most impact the business. It’s called “LANE MANAGEMENT”. Find the lane that each employee loves, is best at, and wants to dedicate themselves to and channel them in that direction only. If businesses were able to uncover the things that their employees LOVE TO DO, and then channel them into that lane, the level of performance and productivity would be unmeasurable.
