WASH OUR FACES TWICE AT NIGHT? SHOULD YOU FOLLOW THE “DOUBLE CLEANSE” TREND?

1. Is washing your face twice at night necessary? Is there any benefit to doing this?

Double cleansing is important. The first application should have oil to get rid of any oil-based residue or product. The second one eliminates water-based products or impurities. In short, it ensures there is no accumulation of make up or traces left.

2. What does a good nighttime skin routine look like? (steps included, kind of products to use, etc.)

The steps include;

Cleansing

Cleansing applies to every skin, whether you put on makeup or not to remove built up grime or dust from pollution. I always emphasize on a gentle cleanser to avoid skin barrier disruption.

Use a toner

After cleansing, use a toner to balance the skin’s pH. I prefer a toner lacking alcohol for better outcome. It helps hydrate, balance, and prepare your skin for what will layer up next.

Retinoid product

A retinoid product works well at night because of no sunlight. It helps trigger collagen production and elimination of fine lines and wrinkles, leaving you with a super bright and healthy skin. You can also substitute retinoid with serum. Exfoliating products can increase cell turnover. People with sensitive skins can go for soothing serum with relaxing ingredients like CBD and niacinamide.

Use moisturizer or night mask

An occlusive formula is the best for locking the earlier layers, including face oil, night mask, or moisturizer. The same moisturizer used during daytime can apply here, but ensure it lacks an SPF. Shea butter is a good example for admirable results.

3. How should your nighttime skin routine differ from your morning routine?

There must be a difference. For instance, daytime routines must always take care of sunburns, pollution, and dirt, which possibly block your pores. But nighttime routines should be hydrating, countering acne or dark spots, and addressing any skin-related issues.

I am deeply convinced that each patient needs a unique, individual approach. Therefore, I use different psychotherapy methods in my work. During my studies, I discovered an in-depth interest in people as a whole and the belief in the inseparability of mind and body, and the importance of emotional health in physical health. In my spare time, I enjoy reading (a big fan of thrillers) and going on hikes.
