What Are Your Thoughts Regarding Red No. 3 (Erythrosine) And Concerns Around It / Its Link to Possible Health Issues?

Red No.3 or Erythrosine is an artificial red dye primarily used in foods, pharmaceuticals, and cosmetics to enhance color. The common foods with this dye include cakes, candies, and popsicles.I my perspective, Red No.3 is one of the most harmful coloring agents in the food industry. The coloring additive is more likely to trigger thyroid cancer and reduce brain health.

Is It Okay to Eat Food That Uses Red No. 3 (Erythrosine) Or Should People Avoid It?

Based on the health concerns above, it is safe to say Red No.3 is worth avoiding.

If People Should Avoid Red No. 3 (Erythrosine), Is There a Natural Alternative?

As registered dietician, I highly recommend these Natural food dyes;

  • Tomatoes, beets, and watermelon (Red dye)
  • Blueberries and purple taro (Purple dye)
  • Turmeric and Saffron (Yellow dye)
  • Matcha powder and green vegetables (Green dye)
