Beta-alanine is a form of amino acid our bodies use to produce carnosine. When we have enough carnosine, we are more likely to experience less fatigue during high-intensity exercise. It is, thus, safe to say beta-alanine promotes performance and endurance during workouts.
What Does Beta-Alanine Do for You?
Beta-alanine reduces lactic acid levels in your muscles during exercise. This translates to increased endurance and performance during high-intensity exercises like weight lifting and sprinting.
Is Beta-Alanine the Same as Creatine?
While both Beta-alanine and creatine fall under non-essential amino acids, the two are different. Beta-alanine improves your strength and power by preventing muscle acidity, while creatine makes you a beast during exercise by increasing the production of ATP.
Should You Take Beta-Alanine Every Day?
As a registered dietician, I advise you to take 2-5 grams of beta-alanine every day.
Anything Else People Should Know About Beta-Alanine?
Beta-alanine is also found in foods, including chicken, turkey, whitefish, tuna, salmon, pork, and Beef.
