Why ADHD IMPACTS YOUR SEX LIFE

ADHD impacts one’s ability to focus or be in the moment during sex making it difficult for both partners to enjoy the intimacy. It may cause hypersexuality, hyposexuality, sudden mood swings, lack of interest or desire in a partner, anger, loneliness, and other negative effects that lower your sexual drive, affect how you view and engage in sex, contributing to poor sex life.

What are some specific moves or additions to your sex life that could benefit someone with ADHD?

I suggest you take your prescribed medications, opt for talk or speech therapy to improve the symptoms, avoid distractions, exercise regularly, and talk to your partner before, during, and after sex to better your intimacy affairs.

What are some things that might benefit someone with ADHD’s sex life?

I strongly advise you to try new sex ideas, whether visiting new locations, positions, or any fresh way that can lower bedroom boredom. Try to stay in the moment, avoid distractions during sex, prioritize or schedule sex, and adopt mindful practices for people with partners having ADHD to understand their triggers such as irritating smells and lights and communicate how to better your intimacy.

What are some things you should talk about with a partner?

I recommend telling your partner that the ADHD behaviors are not triggered by their words or acts. Inform that your ADHD behavior has less influence on how attractive you find them. Talk about what you would like in bed and what you hate, from positions to the environmental settings.

Does medication timing matter / does medication keep you from sleeping?

Yes, from some of my clients, taking the drugs some minutes before sex increases their focus and irritations, making the encounter more pleasurable.
