WHY CHANGING HOW YOU SEE YOURSELF CAN HELP STICK TO NEW HABITS

Why/how this works and how to do it.

Changing an identity easily helps stick to a new habit because the shifting process from an older self, greatly impacts building the person you are proud of. It means you are consciously choosing yourself, for you. Remember, people will always create time and commit to the things that matter to them. Being proud of what you identify with will inspire you to work through the related habits aligning with those things, thus helping stick to them. To get started, I recommend asking yourself questions, including;

  • What identity do you want? – The person you want to be.
  • What actions go along with this identity?

If you want to be an exerciser, what do exercisers do to affirm this identity? If an entrepreneur, can you manage finances and be accountable? Therefore, do what is expected of how you want to see yourself, and that is how you can become.

I am deeply convinced that each patient needs a unique, individual approach. Therefore, I use different psychotherapy methods in my work. During my studies, I discovered an in-depth interest in people as a whole and the belief in the inseparability of mind and body, and the importance of emotional health in physical health. In my spare time, I enjoy reading (a big fan of thrillers) and going on hikes.
