WORST SUGARY SNACK FOR WEIGHT GAIN AND INFLAMMATION

How does sugar lead to inflammation and weight gain?

As a dietitian, regular consumption of foods high in sugars can trigger the production of liver fatty acids that cause inflammation when broken down or metabolized in the body. Diets high in fructose sugars are linked with greater risks of chronic inflammation.

Diets rich in sugary foods or drinks can cause weight gain as they are low in nutrients and high in unnecessary calories. Sugary products are easily digested, implying that you are likely to feel hungry soon after eating, which can cause overheating and increase calorie intake, resulting in weight gain. Excess sugar consumption can interfere with leptin or hunger hormones which trigger leptin resistance, a condition linked with increased body weight or obesity.

What would you say is the worst sugary food that causes these issues? Why is it so bad for you, and what are some healthy alternatives?

Candy and soda are the worst sugary snacks for weight gain and inflammation. They contain high amounts of added sugars, especially fructose corn syrup, other harmful chemicals, artificial flavors, or colors that tend to slow down your weight loss and trigger inflammation. The foreign chemicals and excess sugars cause an inflammatory response as the body reacts to the rapid increase in blood sugar and impact weight loss due to the high calories you intake.

I recommend you substitute candy and soda for healthier options like berries, nuts, salmon, almonds, and citrus fruits as they have anti-inflammatory properties and can also support weight loss due to their dense nutrient content.
