BEST SNACK TO KEEP THE BRAIN SHARP

Can your diet play a big role in keeping your brain sharp?

 As a nutritionist, diet has a huge role in ensuring our brain functions properly and stay sharper. The type of food we consume directly affects the brain neuron cells, important parts of the brain. Eating diets that support brain health can keep it healthy and give it the needed fuel to perform its functions. Eating plant based foods and other nutritious foods high in proteins and healthy foods you can significantly increase memory, lower risk of brain diseases such as dementia and Alzheimer’s disease. However, taking foods and drinks high in saturated fats, sugar and sodium, can weaken the memory, lower brain functioning and heighten risk of brain conditions.

What’s the best snack that can help keep your brain sharp?

I highly recommend the below snacks when looking for a sharper brain;

Fatty fish

Eating a piece of salmon, sardines, herring or tuna fish as form of snack can boots brain heath and make you sharper. These fatty fishes are high in healthy omega-3 fats which in memory, delay age-related brain conditions, learning, boost mood and increase sharpness as they add up the gray matter, neuron cells and other fats in the brain.

Blueberries

They are packed with vitamins, antioxidant and anti-inflammatory properties that improve memory, learning and lower brain related conditions or aging.

Dark chocolate

Its rich in flavonoids, antioxidants, stimulants like caffeine and other brain boosting components from the cocoa. These properties can boost memory and learning, elevate mood and overall brain functioning making sharper and healthier.
