Guide to Anal Lube

Guide to Anal Lube

The anal cavity and opening have no natural lubrication, making anal stimulation a bit difficult. For this reason it is always imperative that you get a lubricant for your anal sex needs. Whether it is for toy use or couple’s play, lubrication allows for an easier time, preventing friction related injuries which may be lethal. The anal cavity contains various bacteria strains for obvious reasons and even a small cut may cause some unwanted complications.

Guide to Anal Lube

However, not all lubricants are the same. Anal lubricant is designed a bit differently, to ensure that the lube is thicker and hence provides a superior glide compared to the normal lube. There are a few options to consider when choosing an anal lubricant. Here is a basic guide on the anal lubricants available;

Water Based Anal Lubricant

Water based lubricant has so many positive attributes. The lubricant is easy to clean out of fabrics and surfaces, ensuring that you get to indulge in messy play without the fear that your fabrics and items will be destroyed. However, this also means that the lube may require a more reapplications than the silicone option as it tends to evaporate much faster.

However, anal water based lube has a thicker feel, making the glide even smoother. The anal water based lube lasts longer, reducing the need for constant reapplication. Some water based lubes contain glycerin to make them last longer, but this ingredient is responsible for some adverse reactions especially for those with sensitive skin. For this reason always check for this ingredient and choose the water based lube that doesn’t contain glycerin.

Water based anal lube is popular because of its compatibility with almost all anal sex toys. Water based lube is also latex friendly, allowing for indulgence in safe anal sex especially if you have multiple partners.

Oil Based Lube

Known for its extremely smooth glide, oil based lube has been in the anal sex scene for the longest time. The lubricant lasts for a long period of time, enabling you to indulge in a long session without the need for reapplication. The oil lubricant minimizes friction so much that the session barely has a moment of discomfort. However, oil based lubricant is not latex compatible, making it difficult to use if you plan on using a condom.

Oil based lube is compatible with glass and metal anal sex toys, greatly limiting the toys that can be used with it. However, if you are enthusiastic about these toys, it makes for the best product to use. Oil based anal lube is messy and hard to clean from surfaces. For vigorous and adventurous games, a protective sheet has to be placed over the exposed surfaces to ensure that the fabrics and surfaces remain protected from the spillage.

Silicone Based Anal Lubricant

The silicone based anal lube is a lubricant that has a long lasting glide, ensuring that the anal session goes as smoothly as possible. However, silicone based lubricant cannot be used with silicone anal sex toys. The silicone lube degrades the silicone toy, making its lifespan shorter and it becomes quite expensive to keep replacing toys. Some silicone based anal lubricants are latex compatible while others will degrade the latex. For this reason always check the packaging and lube guide to ensure that you have the right lube.

Although not as bad as oil based lubricant, silicone based lubricant is a bit hard to clean off, so a messy play should be avoided. However, covering the surfaces is a sure way of preventing any fabrics from getting destroyed. Unlike water based anal lubricant, the silicone based anal lube can be used for water play. The lube maintains its glide enabling you to take your anal play into new territories.

Anal sex is more risky as there are higher chances of cuts and abrasions occurring. For this reason, it is always recommended that you engage in protected anal sex even when you are in a monogamous relationship. This is because even a slight opening on the penis will allow the anal bacteria into the blood stream, causing some unwanted infections. Whichever lube you choose, always ensure that you check the guide to ensure compatibility with your toys and skin.

The work of a family doctor includes a wide range of clinical diversity, which requires extensive knowledge and erudition from a specialist. However, I believe that the most important thing for a family doctor is to be human because the cooperation and understanding between the doctor and the patient are crucial in ensuring successful health care. On my days off, I love being in nature. Since childhood, I have been passionate about playing chess and tennis. Whenever I have time off, I enjoy traveling around the world.
