You might think that the average porn star is a busty Pamela Anderson lookalike, but like so many others, you’d be wrong. Now, thanks to Jon Millward, a self-proclaimed Ideas Detective, we know that the average porn star is a slight 34B-cup, is Caucasian with brown hair, and goes by the name ‘Nikki.
So, how exactly does Jon Millward know this?
He watched a lot of porn. And, he joined up with lots of other people who watched a lot of porn. He also extracted the personal details of 10,000 adult performers from the world’s largest adult database to create the biggest, most engaging adult infographic and accompanying 5000-word essay displaying his findings.
There were a lot of findings.
For instance, Millward discovered that although men say they prefer blondes, 39.1% of porn stars have brown hair – compared to the 32.7% who have blonde hair. 70.5% of porn stars are Caucasian, with Black coming in second at 14%. 34B is the most common bra size for a female porn star, with C, D and Double-D following in quick succession. ‘Nikki is the most common female porn star name, followed by ‘Jessica and ‘Lisa, while ‘David is the male number one name, followed by ‘Tony and ‘John. Incidentally, the most popular male and female porn star surnames are exactly the same: Lee.
‘I’ve spent the last six months analyzing it to discover the truth about what the average performer looks like, what they do on film, and how their role has evolved over the last forty years. Millward explained. ‘Finally I was able to scrutinize adult performers in a way no man, despite regular attempts to do so, had ever managed before, and find out once and for all which stereotypes about porn stars are true, which are bogus, and what these men and women have been doing for the last forty years.
And lucky us, we get to read all of his findings in his rather (ahem!) large report titled ‘Deep Inside: A Study of 10,000 Porn Stars. The study, released in February of this year, has already received over a million unique visitors.
