ARE DELTA-10 GUMMIES STRONG?

Since the legalization of hemp in 2018, the CBD industry has seen tremendous growth, making discoveries frequently. One of these compounds is delta-10 THC, a compound similar to delta-9 THC. Unlike other Delta THC  variations, Delta 10 THC is less potent, giving users milder psychoactive effects.

There are over one hundred cannabinoids that are known and well documented. Hemp happens to contain a handful of these cannabinoids. THC is a well-known compound that has been known to cause euphoria rather cause highness in its users. Research studies carried out by medical scientists have been able to identify several isomers of THC, such as delta- 8, delta-9, a highly psychoactive cannabinoid, exo-THC, and the recently discovered delta-10 THC. These compounds are very similar in their compound structure. Still, they differ in the double bond placement, which can be found either on the eighth, ninth, tenth, or eleventh carbon atom. This difference in placement alters the effect it has and its strength. This article discusses the strength of gummies made from the Delta- 10 THC.

What Is Delta-10 THC?

THC is a cannabinoid that has been found to contain several isomers, and delta-10 is one of those isomers. An isomer is any compound, ions, or radicals that contain the same number of atoms of similar elements. Still, these compounds differ in their structural arrangement and properties. This difference can be in terms of functionality, position, and the number of chains surrounding the main compound, i.e., the methylcyclohexane ring. Delta-9 THC, the main psychoactive compound, has a double bond on carbon numbers nine and 10, whereas delta-10 THC has the location of the double bond between atoms 10 and 10a. This structural difference is the main difference between these two compounds.

The Strength of Delta-10 Gummies

Delta-10 THC gummies will still get one high when ingested, although to a lesser degree when compared to delta-9. As a point of reference, delta-8 is between thirty-four and fifty percent less potent than delta-9, whereas delta-10 is said to be even less potent than delta-8. Therefore, whereas this cannabinoid compound might get you high, one might not get the same feeling of highness when taking delta-9 THC. In addition, the effects of delta-10 vary depending on the dose administered. Bonn-Miller et al. (2019) noted that lower doses (1-5 milligrams) are referred to as microdoses. The majority of users report feeling slightly energized, comparable to the effects of a cup of coffee. Other side effects include improved focus and concentration.

With the microdose, one is unlikely to feel “high.” A low delta 10 dose is defined as anything between 10 and 20 milligrams. Feelings of minor euphoria heightened focus and attention, and increased energy levels are common side effects of this dosage. This dose may cause mild perceptual changes in sensitive individuals. Akpunonu et al. (2021) noted that the typical delta THC gummies dose ranges between 20 and 50 milligrams. With this dose, intense feelings of euphoria are likely, along with noticeable changes in perception. More importantly, at this point, it feels similar to traditional marijuana products but with a stronger emphasis on the euphoric and energized end of the spectrum. Some users report impaired motor skills and intoxication, which keeps them from going about their daily lives. Anything over 50 mg of delta 10 THC is considered a high dose.

Along with the typical high from marijuana extracts, intense feelings of euphoria should be expected. High doses of delta 10 THC may negatively affect focusing and staying attentive at this dose and intoxication and motor skill impairment. Users may feel more creative, but it won’t be easy to channel this creativity while remaining on-task.

How Long Does Delta-10 Take Effect?

According to Takakuwa& Schears (2021), inhaling vapes and vape juices containing delta-10 usually have an immediate effect and last about 2-3 hours. Most commercial delta 10 THC products are available in disposable vapes or vape cartridges. On the other hand, other modes of consumption can result in longer onset times and more prolonged effects. Delta 10 THC edibles, for example, can take 45 minutes to two hours to take effect, and the effects typically last between 4 and 10 hours. Sublingual Delta 10 tinctures typically take effect in 10-30 minutes and last 4-8 hours on average. A stronger psychoactive effect can be expected within 1–2 hours if the tincture is swallowed after use.

Tolerance To Delta-10 THC

Delta 10 THC users who take the same dose regularly may notice that the effects become less and less potent over time. This is known as intolerance, and it happens when you take other cannabinoids as well. Because delta 10 THC is a discovery, little research has been conducted on its long-term use and delta 10 tolerance. However, research on delta 9 THC tolerance suggests that the endocannabinoid system’s CB1 receptors decrease in number and require more THC to fire. The same thing is thought to cause delta 10 THC tolerance. Most delta-10 users use tolerance breaks to regulate their tolerance, also known as “T-breaks.”  Fan et al. (1994) defined a tolerance break as several weeks or months without consuming THC. This break in use is thought to increase the number of CB1 receptors, making them more sensitive to delta 10 THC once consumption resumes.

Benefits Of Delta-10 Gummies

Delta 10 THC has yet to be studied in any context. The only report on this substance comes from a 1984 paper. Raphael Mechoulam, a chemist, first identified the substance and outlined his process for synthesizing it from delta 9 THC. There have been no animal or human studies on the effects of delta 10. Based on personal experience and other early reports from people who have tried delta 10, it’s very likely that this substance provides similar benefits to both delta 8 and delta 9 THC — for which there is a lot more data. Delta 10 THC produces the same high as regular THC but is more likely to produce stimulating, euphoric, and creative effects. This could imply that delta 10 THC will be more effective than other THC forms for conditions such as ADHD, fatigue, fibromyalgia, multiple sclerosis, depression, or neurodegenerative disorders. Until more research is available, it is impossible to make definitive claims about what delta 10 THC gummies can offer.

Conclusion

Delta 10 THC is a new isomer of the THC molecule. It has the same psychoactive properties as delta 9 and delta 8 THC but is slightly less potent. In terms of effects, delta 10 is the best version of THC to use during the day. There hasn’t been a lot of scientific research done on this cannabinoid. While it was discovered in 1984 and several other THC isomers, it has only been that this cannabinoid has gained mainstream popularity in the last few years.
