Disposable sanitary towels, for example, come in plastic carrier bags that may discompose after around 800 years. If more are disposed, the environment will be negatively impacted as time goes by. But using the reusable types can reduce this impact and less energy will be exploited in making plastic packages for these pads.

While purchasing reusable pads may feel more expensive when buying, you may never require putting money on pads in the next three to four years. I use period underwear with my girls and it has helped save a lot of money.

Disposable pads are made of chemicals that may have numerous toxins. You also do not know where they pass through during packaging. But with the reusable types, you are in control of their hygiene and nobody wants their vagina to absorb dirt.
Disposable alternatives can never be as clean as reusable types because of the high chances of harboring viruses, bacteria, and pathogens during manufacture, storage, ad distribution. No one knows whose hands they went through and whether they were clean or not. Unlike reusable pads, which you have all the information since the first use.
