Michael Manning is the kind of guy who lives next door. He rides a bicycle, he reads lots of books, and he likes art. Perhaps you’ll hear his collection of electronic or psychedelic music banging through the walls of your apartment as he relaxes after a long day at work. You might notice the tattooed tentacles winding around his arm – and you’ll find yourself asking, so who exactly is Michael Manning, and what does he do?
Good question.
He’s an illustrator and artist, working full-time in comix and erotic artworks. He’s the talent – and the brain – behind The Spider Garden graphic novel series, amongst others, he co-created the Tranceptor series and he’s teamed up with some leading industry professionals to create jaw-droppingly beautiful artworks that can be seen in galleries around the world. If you’ve got a thing for graphic novels, comix or art deco-esque erotic illustrations, Michael Manning is your kind of guy.
If you spot him riding his bicycle down to the local bookstore, you probably can’t quite imagine that this apparently quiet, reserved man has running through his imagination. But, don’t be deceived or led to believe that it’s all daisies and how-do-you-do-s behind those tattoos. A world of roleplay, restraint and resistance awaits you when you step into his shoes. A world where the brain and imagination is the sexiest part of a partner’s body, and where there are no limits in any sexual encounter.
Imagine this world filled with black and white contours, pony-girls and horse-boys, and enough androgyny and strap-ons to make you quiver. Fantasy sex meets leather in Michael Manning’s illustrated world, and your heroine is as likely to be tied up by tentacles as she is seduced by a well-hung horse man.
If you’re not making a trip out to California any time soon, his artwork is available to buy signed from his livejournal site, Metal Web. He also takes commissions for tattoos.
