GUT HEALTH

Why Is Gut Health So Important

Gut health refers to the balance state of bacteria found in the digestive tract that aid in food digestion and other functions. Gut health is essential as a healthy gut contains more good bacteria that combat disease-causing germs or bad bacteria and fungi. The gut is inter-linked to the brain, nerves, and body chemicals; a healthy gut improves immune, lowers risks of diseases, and improves overall wellbeing.

Ways to Improve Gut Health

•             Consume more fiber giving foods like whole grains, berries, beans, lentils, vegetables, and fruits to feed and increase the microbiome in the gut.

•             Best fermented foods include: yogurt, kefir, tempeh, and kimchi. By including it into your diets you enhance the growth of a healthy gut microbiome such as lactobacilli or bifidobacterium. They are high in these beneficial bacteria.

•             Eat food high in polyphenols such as chocolate, almonds, red grapes, blueberries, and green tea. They are high in fiber and fuel the growth of the gut microbiome.

•             Take more prebiotic fiber from bananas, onions, asparagus, garlic, and whole grains. Prebiotics are indigestible carbs used by probiotics to fuel their numbers and functioning.

•             Adjust your lifestyle habits- cut unhealthy eating such as lower foods high in sugars, manage stress, exercise regularly, and get adequate sleep.

Advice On Probiotics

The gut tract contains numerous microbiomes, consisting of good and bad bacteria. The good bacteria found naturally are known as probiotics and aid in regulating bad bacteria, viruses, and fungi. Most probiotic supplements are packed with live good bacteria or yeast and are administered to increase the number of good bacteria.

They combat excess bad bacteria to maintain balanced microbe levels and keep the gut tract healthy. They aid in food digestion, break down medications, and protect the cell linings f your internal organs.

I recommend intake of Lactobacillus and bifidobacterium probiotics as they target to increase these two types of good bacteria in your gut.
