Springboarding on the global success of Sex and the City and with a little help from recent celebrity interviews, Britain has become a lot more interested in the sex toy industry which is set to double in worth over the coming year. With nearly half of the nation already enjoying the use of sex toys, things can only get better from here on.

Once upon a time you had to look hard to find a sex toy or sexy lingerie anywhere outside of adult shops but today we’re lucky enough to have a choice of retailers on the high street with more affordable options online. You can even walk into a lifestyle pharmacy like Boots or Superdrug and find vibrating cock rings on the same shelf as the condoms.

Gone are the days when talking about sex was taboo: nowadays women are revealing their favourite sexual positions and sex toys without much ado. Eva Longoria, star of the hit TV series Desperate Housewives, has openly advertised that she shares the love by giving rabbit vibrators as gifts to friends, “It’s the best gift to give – an orgasm.”
