As a dermatologist, eating more tomatoes can be effective in preventing sunburn and promoting skin care this summer. Recent studies have proven that lycopene, an antioxidant in tomatoes, can help lower and prevent the effects of ultraviolet rays on the skin. Eating more tomatoes can add up the lycopene levels which increases production of more collagen, prevents premature aging, skin discoloration, when exposed to the sun, aiding in protecting the skin and its tissues from the harmful UV rays.
I recommend you eat more veggies and fruits especially those high in fluids such as peaches, watermelon, cucumbers, strawberries, blackberries, squash, kiwi, muskmelons, and citrus fruits as they increase skin hydration, or moisture and provide the skin with essential nutrients and antioxidants to reduce skin damage in the summer heat.
