To understand these practices, we will look at types of sexual activities people with vulvas are more likely to engage in. Let’s get started.
Fingering and Fisting
Fingering and fisting involve penetrating your partner vaginally or anally with one finger or the whole hand. To safely finger or fist your partner, you may want to;
- Wash your hands to prevent the spread of infection
- Cut and file your nails to avoid injuring them
- Wear nitrile or latex gloves for added protection
- Apply lube to increase sexual pleasure
- Start small; insert one knuckle after the other or move your wrist inside their vagina in small circular motions.
- Check on them after the session. You can refer to this as aftercare.
Oral Sex
- Use a dental dam to reduce the risk of STIs
- Apply lube on their vulva or around their anus to enhance the oral play
Strap On sex
- Choose a dildo crafted from a non-porous material. This allows you easily clean the toy after use. What is more, the material does not catch or store bacteria or dirt that may compromise the health of your partner’s vagina.
- Start with foreplay to bring the sexual mood into your bedroom
- Apply lube to heighten sexual pleasure
- Avoid sharing the harness and dildo to reduce the risk of STIs. As an MD, I strongly suggest each of you have their harness. If you must share the dildo, ensure you use a condom or clean it between the swaps.
- If you also plan to use the strap on anally, bring the condom board or clean the toy when you come from their anus to lower the risk of bacterial vaginosis.
Scissoring
- Wear a dental dam to reduce the risk of STIs
- Wear leggings for added protection
