Foods/Drinks That Can Cause Vision Loss

White Bread and Pasta

While bread and pasta are good sources of simple carbs easily broken down by the body. Due to this, they can increase your blood sugar levels, contributing to age-related macular degeneration(AMD). With AMD, you are more likely to experience vision problems. Because consuming more than eight slices of white bread and 2 or 3 cups of pasta daily can affect your eyesight, you should take them in moderation.

Processed Meats

Processed meats are high in sodium. When taken in large amounts (more than 2,300 mg) or for long periods, these foods can increase sodium levels, leading to hypertension or high blood pressure. These unhealthy blood pressure levels promote hypertensive retinopathy, choroidopathy and neuropathy, which can cause vision loss.

Sugary Drinks

Sugary drinks are loaded with added sugar and calories. When you consume even 1 or 2 cans on a regular basis, you might develop type 2 diabetes and heart disease, both of which are precursors of AMD and diabetic retinopathy. If you want to stay safe, make water your best drink.
