BETTER DECISIONS

HOW TO MAKE BETTER DECISIONS

1. Is it common to struggle with decision-making skills?

Yes, it is a common struggle because of various factors, including lack of enough information, fear of possible failure, and some people may lack energy to weigh the options available.

2. How can good decision making skills help you?

Good decision-making skills are mostly seen later in the consequences, including

  • May lead to better outcomes.
  • May help learn from mistakes made, helping in enhancing personal development.
  • May help better your work life by making you achieve job satisfaction.
  • May provide varied options to choose from and enhance flexibility.
  • May block bad options and give a different opportunity.

3. Please share at least 3-5 tips — strategies or techniques that might help someone make decisions or things they could consider to make better decisions. When possible, give examples (and try to shape the tips to match a variety of decisions, big and small — things like whether to go on a date with X person, whether to take a job, what to do when you feel really unsure about something, etc.)

Take your time

Decision making can be overwhelming, especially because of pressure. If you are struggling to decide, I recommend sitting down and taking enough time, if possible, to think well. Be careful about the first quick thoughts because they are likely to mislead. For example, if you were to meet an ex, ensure you feel right. If you have not healed, and might find reminders to take you back upon meeting them, please think again.

What are the pros and cons?

I always tell my clients to have a pen and paper when dealing with matters requiring big decisions. Have a list of the advantages and disadvantages involved in the present options, then compare. If one pleases you, go with it.

Think of how to defend your decision

After making a certain decision, what will you tell your friends? Will you make sense? Therefore, imagine you are your friends and find a better way to get a better outcome that will not give a negative reaction.

4. Can you briefly touch on the fact that people tend to approach problems from different angles and think about things in different ways? (Just so readers know that if certain tips don’t work for them, that’s OK).

Is your indecision making your life troublesome? Perhaps it is challenging you to the extent of causing negative energy, such that you cannot take proper control over yourself. Well, I recommend being patient if time allows. Calm down and engage only in activities that increase your happiness. I also recommend talking to a trusted friend and share your issue. A therapist can also guide by suggesting different strategies to work through your problem.

The work of a family doctor includes a wide range of clinical diversity, which requires extensive knowledge and erudition from a specialist. However, I believe that the most important thing for a family doctor is to be human because the cooperation and understanding between the doctor and the patient are crucial in ensuring successful health care. On my days off, I love being in nature. Since childhood, I have been passionate about playing chess and tennis. Whenever I have time off, I enjoy traveling around the world.
