HOW TO ORGANISE A FRIDGE

How best to organize a fridge

A fridge has various compartments. I recommend using the illustration below;

  • Drawers- Salads, vegetables, herbs, and fruits.
  • Upper shelves- Leftovers or any food that must not be cooked.
  • Middle shelves- Dairy foods; yogurt, milk, and cheese.
  • Bottom part- Raw meats and fish. Ensure to warp properly.
  • Door shelves- Store foods that can tolerate temperature fluctuations, such as juice and jam- have preservatives.

I would appreciate a range of tips

  • Regular cleaning for high hygiene standards.
  • Thaw to avoid ice accumulation.
  • Separate cooked and raw food to avoid possible contamination- cooked foods on the top shelf and raw ones on the lower shelves.
  • Avoid keeping some fruits in the fridge, such as, avocados and bananas. They release gas that could harm vegetables, making them spoil prematurely.
  • Cool down hot foods before storing them in the fridge as they may raise the temperature and spoil other foods unnecessarily.

To maximize storage space, you can buy storage containers, including Lakeland Drawstring bags for bread, Bacofoil the nonstick kitchen foil, and fridge freezer thermometer from Lakeland Company or other seller stores.
