How some medical diets (i.e. Low FODMAP, Keto) were never supposed to be mainstream and were created to help manage certain health issues, not weight loss
FODMAP foods greatly contribute to nutritional insufficiency. They also lead to disordered eating. If made strict, it can trigger a bad gut microbiota that alters the digestive tract health.
How these articles, when used for weight loss purposes, may promote disordered eating habits.
FODMAP diets contain polyols and sugars that may not be absorbed well. As a result, the food ferments resulting in gas buildup, bloating, and diarrhea. Other people may complain of constipation and abdominal pain. On the other hand, keto diet may not be proven to directly cause eating disorders but its restrictive habit can stimulate binge eating due to extreme cravings. You may also acquire excessive thoughts about food, which may signal an eating disorder. This way, one may not achieve the intended weight loss goal because of high overeating chances.
